DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California resident reports they were invited to join a WhatsApp group that engaged in crypto assets investing. “Helen” messaged the victim to create an account on the crypto asset trading platform XS Coins and instructed the victim on how to purchase crypto assets to begin trading on the platform. Over time, the victim believed they were making profitable trades. But when the victim attempted to withdraw money from their account, they were unable to do so. All told, the victim lost more than $12,000.
