About TitanAlert
TitanAlert is the largest community-powered database of fraudulent credit card statement descriptors — the cryptic merchant names that appear on your bank statement when you've been scammed.
Our Mission
Every year, millions of Americans are victimized by hidden subscriptions, fake tech support charges, spoofed merchant billing, and unauthorized recurring charges. The scam operators deliberately use obscure, confusing merchant names to avoid detection — names like RCKDGGHB.COM, PVER3, or DDL LUMIDAY.
TitanAlert exists to demystify these descriptors. When you Google a mystery charge, we want to be the first result — giving you instant answers, community validation, and a step-by-step guide to get your money back.
How TitanAlert Works
Seed Database
We started with 1,200+ verified fraudulent descriptors sourced from Reddit, FTC enforcement actions, BBB Scam Tracker, CFPB complaints, and Apple/Microsoft community forums.
Daily Ingestion Pipeline
An automated pipeline scrapes Reddit, FTC alerts, BBB RSS, and CFPB complaints daily — surfacing new descriptors within 24 hours of their first public mention.
Community Submissions
Any consumer can report a charge. Submissions are reviewed and merged into the database, incrementing the report count and keeping the data fresh.
SEO-Optimized Pages
Every descriptor gets its own indexed page targeting the exact query victims type into Google — "what is [DESCRIPTOR] charge on my bank statement".
How to Dispute an Unauthorized Charge
This general guide applies to most unauthorized charges on US credit and debit cards.
- 1
Act within 60 days
For credit cards, the Fair Credit Billing Act gives you 60 days from the statement date. For debit cards, Regulation E gives you 60 days from the statement. Act immediately.
- 2
Call your bank first
Call the number on the back of your card. Say: "I have an unauthorized charge from [DESCRIPTOR] for [AMOUNT] on [DATE]. I want to dispute this charge." They will issue a provisional credit within 5 business days.
- 3
Follow up in writing
Within 10 days of your call, send a certified letter to your bank's billing disputes address. Include: your account number, the charge details, and a statement that you did not authorize the charge.
- 4
Request a new card number
If the charge was fraudulent, your card number is compromised. Request a replacement card with a new number to prevent future charges.
- 5
File regulatory complaints
File with the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), CFPB (consumerfinance.gov/complaint), and your state attorney general. These create official records and pressure the merchant.
