A California resident reports their experience with a crypto trading app, referred to as a “decentralized app,” with the “dApp” URLs fx.trustfx.cc and gee5g.xyz. The consumer made several crypto deposits into the platform but when they tried to withdraw funds, the application demanded a “tax” payment before releasing the funds and threatening to freeze the account if the payment was not made within seven days.The victim communicated through the app's customer service, which operates via WhatsApp, but has been unable to recover their funds.
