DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
The victim met a person who called themselves “Lili Chen” on the communication app Zoosk. After communicating for a while, Lili began talking about investing in crypto. Lili told the victim she wanted them to spend their lives together. Lili had the victim send money to the website, which she claimed was a trading platform, and said he could make large profits. She even showed the victim he could put money back into his account. After a few weeks, she suggested they set up a ‘love fund’ so they could move away together. She instructed him to set up an account and she promised to put $80,000 in
