DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California resident reports using a crypto platform called Ovaro.net. The resident believed they were earning profits through trading on the platform. But when the resident tried to withdraw their funds, the platform demanded they pay a “processing fee.” Resident paid, but then the platform demanded they pay a “capital gains tax.” Again, the resident paid but still could not retrieve their funds. The platform made an additional demand for a “security deposit,” which the resident declined to pay. The resident has not recovered any of their funds, and the website is no longer operational.
