DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California resident reports issues dealing with a crypto asset trading platform known as LayRay/layray.pro. The victim reported they were invited to trade on the platform at the behest of a stranger online. The victim invested their savings into the platform, but when they tried to withdraw their funds, they were told by the platform that they would need to pay 20% of their holdings to pay off taxes associated with their investment. Since then, the victim has not been able to recover funds from their account and the website is no longer operational.
