DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California consumer met “Lily” on a dating app who asked to move the conversation to WhatsApp. After discussing their shared interest in early retirement, Lily brought up the topic of trading crypto options.Shortly thereafter, the consumer received a text message from a purported crypto trading platform called bitsorcoinss.com which offered deposit-matching bonuses for opening an account. Lily pressed the victim to open an account on the platform. The victim sent funds but now cannot recover them and the website is no longer operational.
