DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A resident received a brokerage company advertisement via social media. After responding to the advertisement, ”Anastasia” contacted the victim via WhatsApp claiming to be an advisor and convinced them to join the trading platform, fourgearstools.com. “Alexy” contacted the victim on WhatsApp claiming to be an advisor for “fourgearstools.com”. Following Alexey’s instructions, the victim transferred crypto assets onto the platform. But when they tried to withdraw funds, the platform demanded they pay $3,838 to “clear a transaction linked with AML (anti-money laundering) violations”. The resident
