DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California victim received an email which included a link to https://firstmining.top/account/. When he clicked the link, he accessed documents that showed he had an account with crypto assets in it that had accumulated more than $38,000 dollars from the website’s ”cloud mining” operations. The victim tried to access the funds, but was instructed that they needed to pay a small fee first and was asked to provide their banking account information. The victim paid the fees but did not receive any money, and the website is no longer operational.
