DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California resident reports they met "Mark" on the dating app Bumble. Mark asked the victim to shift the conversation to WhatsApp. They continued to communicate, and at some point, Mark told the victim he could teach them cryptocurrency trading and showed them how to open a trading account at https://e.fidelityopt.com, claiming it was “safe and legal.”At first, the victim was reluctant, but Mark claimed he would contribute an additional $100,000 so they could trade in even greater amounts. After that, guided by Mark, the victim wired funds eight times through the website, ranging from $1,000
