A California victim was contacted by an individual named “Carl” who claimed to be the Chief Information Officer at a Santa Monica-based digital financial services company. After initial conversations on LinkedIn, they shifted the communications to Instagram. After a few weeks, Carl proposed a joint investment in crypto assets.
