DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California consumer attempted to withdraw funds from a purported crypto trading platform called crypto-trading.top. The consumer reported that the platform demanded they pay capital gains tax before it would release any deposited funds. After the consumer paid the alleged tax, the platform claimed that the consumer’s credit score had dropped and demanded additional fees to release any funds. The consumer subsequently ceased communication with the platform and has not recovered any of their funds.
