DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
A California resident reports hearing about the crypto asset trading platform, costmictop.cc, through an online community. The resident opened an account, deposited funds, and believed they were making profitable trades. They were even able to withdraw $5,000 from their account. But when they tried to withdraw additional funds, the platform demanded they pay $26,000 for “commissions”. The resident paid, but the platform demanded they deposit another $30,000 for “Security Verification” before they could withdraw their money.
