DFPI — Victim narrative (California)
The victim was involved in a scam where she lost $87,000.00. She began communicating with a group of “friends” through text message, who then connected her to a telegram group. Over the telegram group, the “friends” texted each other for almost a month just to have conversations about world events. At some point, one of the friends shifted the conversation to stock and market conditions. The friend showed the group her investments in crypto with screenshots and a website they could use to trade Bitcoin.
