DFPI — Victim narrative (California)

A California resident reports that they were contacted on Instagram by a stranger, who eventually asked that they move the conversations to WhatsApp. At some point, the stranger introduced them to Crypto futures trading on fraudulent platform, ApolloX, operating at the website apolloxxap.com. The victim invested, and believed they were making profitable trades, but when they to withdraw their funds, the ApolloX helpdesk told the resident they suspected “malicious trading” in the account and demanded a $10,400 “security fee”. The resident paid the fee but ApolloX then demanded a “tax” on profit
