A California resident reports meeting “Erika” on the website Next door, who suggested moving the conversation to WhatsApp. At some point, Erika turned the conversation to trading crypto assets and introduced the victim to a trading platform at 0xlayer.top, where they began trading bitcoin smart contracts together. After a time, the victim believed they made $300,000 in profits. But when the victim tried to withdraw some funds, 0xlayer demanded they pay $73k in “verification fees” first.
